Storm causes airport closure in Maringa, Brazil

During the afternoon of the 8th, Tuesday, the Silvio Name Junior Regional Airport, located in Maringá, was closed to takeoffs and landings for about three hours due to bad weather. The operations, that were interrupted around 14h20, only were taken up around 17:30.

The closure of the airport caused the cancellation of a flight and the change in the route of a Gol aircraft, which had departed from Curitiba bound for the terminal in Maringá. However, the airport has not indicated if the aircraft returned to the place of departure and was redirected to another airport.

The rain caused problems not only in the city’s airport. Streets and avenues were flooded obstructing the passage of cars and motorcycles. As in the case of Benedict Avenue Munhoz da Rocha Netto, where the asphalt and the central stonemason were covered by water.
